Straatfotografie; forenzen (English text below)
De fotoserie “forenzen” is een straatfotografie documentaire over het (dagelijkse) heen en weer reizen van A naar B met het openbaar vervoer. Alle foto’s zijn met een mobiele telefoon camera genomen en daar veelal ook op bewerkt. Meestal zonder dat de geportretteerde hiervan op de hoogte is, of toch wel? Er is in enkele gevallen duidelijk contact met de geportretteerde personen. De fotograaf maakt duidelijk onderdeel uit van het geheel, toch zijn de foto’s met een observerende blik genomen.
Iedereen doet iets anders en lijkt voor zichzelf bezig te zijn…, de krant lezen, muziekje luisteren, spelen met een telefoon (net zoals ik, als zijnde de fotograaf, deed). Iedereen is individueel bezig in een collectief transportmiddel, of in de openbare ruimte. Maar is iedereen we zo enorm op zichzelf als het lijkt of houdt men ondertussen alles in de gaten?
Dit project komt voor uit een opdracht genaamd “Mijn Club”. Een opdracht die gedaan moest worden voor de aanmelding van een hbo opleiding fotografie in Den Haag. Door bezuinigingen in het onderwijs (een tweede hbo is volledig voor eigen rekening) ben ik uiteindelijk gaan studeren aan de Fotoacademie in Amsterdam, een plek waar ik mijzelf goed kan ontwikkelen tot meer dan een professionele fotograaf.
Street photography; Commuters
The Photo series “Commuters” is a street photography documentary about the (daily) travelling from A to B. All pictures are taken with a mobile phone camera, and most of them are edited on a cell phone as well. Most people didn’t knew I was taking pictures of them…, did they? Sometimes you can see there’s some kind of contact between the subject and the photographer. The Photographer is clearly a part of the subject. But the pictures still give you the idea that you’re the observer.
Everybody is doing something for himself or herself… reading the paper, listening to music, playing with their phone (like I did, as the photographer). Everybody is acting individual in a collective way of transportation and in public space. But is nobody paying attention to what is happening? Or does it only seem like they don’t pay attention?
This project is the result of an assignment called “My club” An assignment I did for a university of applied sciences where I wanted to study photography. Due to government savings I can only finish one bachelor. For the second one I have to pay all costs by myself. At the end I went to the Dutch Photography Academy to study part-time photography. A place where I can develop myself for being more than just a professional photographer.

Since I was a kid I’m fascinated by public transport. And I’m most facinated by the underground system of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Everyone is traveling by underground; poor, rich, young, old, etc. the stations are beautiful. What I found most interesting are the escelators. Here you find some movies I made

The Moscow Metro is the world’s second most heavily used rapid transit system. The deepest section located at 84 metres (276 ft) below ground,
The Saint Petersburg Metro is one of the deepest subway systems in the world and the deepest by the average depth of all the stations. The system’s deepest station, Admiralteyskaya, is 105 metres below ground.

People often say that when you look at the earth from above at night, the places with lot’s of light are places with the highest economic activity. This photo series shows you this “Economic activity”.
